Kale-A-Palooza Part Two: An Elixir for the Flu

IMG_6189

I am here to tell you that kale has a bright future if for one reason only, it makes a great elixir for the flu.  Yes I have been down with the flu.

SickNothing but nothing was making me feel better.  And then in my feverish, booger blocked haze I tried to recreate the really great tasting smoothy that was prepared at the FBLA Kale-A-Palooza.  Boom! for a good hour maybe two I had energy, I could breathe, and didn’t have to blow my nose.  This was a major breakthrough.  And what was in this elixir fixer?  KALE.  And not just any kale it was San Miguel Produce‘s Cut N Clean’s kale.  Mind you this isn’t a scientific test, merely a visceral reaction to drinking this potion.

I vaguely remember cutting a one inch cube of ginger and throwing it in the blender.

I added a squeeze of honey and then another and another.  Added coconut water to thin.IMG_6176

2013 might just be the year of kale for me.

  1. I always prefer to try natural remedies to the flu over medicinal. It sounds tasty too! Hope you’re feeling better!

It’s all about the greens. Kale sounds good to me.

  3. I love, love, love those Melissa’s blood oranges. Happy to hear something helped you feel better. We’ve all been in and out of sicknesses over here — so off I go to the blender!
